Have a look at this chart and go through the words one by one saying out loud the color of each word, but not the actual word itself. This is a lot harder than it appears because the words don't match the colors they are written in. ( More... )

Train Tracks

On this picture of some train tracks there are two horizontal bars. Which one is longer ? While the topmost one appears to be longer than the one at the bottom the truth is they are both the same length. This is because the image of the tracks disappearing in to the distance leads your brain in to believing the object that is further away is larger than the one close by. ( More... )

These two tables in this image by Roger Shepard appear to be different sizes, the one on the left is oriented vertically and seems to be longer and thinner. Remarkably, both tables are actually exactly the same size. ( More... )

Gradient Stripe Illusion

This image shows a grey stripe on a gradient background. The stripe appears to be shaded with a grey gradient also, however if you look closely you'll see that in reality the stripe is the same color all the way across. ( More... )

Ebbinghaus Illusion

The Ebbinghaus Illusion, also known as Titchener circles is an image of two circles with additional circles around them. In this case the orange circle on the left is surrounded by large blue circles and the orange circle on the right is surrounded by small blue circles. But which is larger, the orange circle on the left or the orange circle on the right ? The answer is of course - they are both the same size. ( More... )
